Wetsuit Information

Triathlon wetsuits are made from neoprene and are different from surfing or waterskiing wetsuits. They provide buoyancy and reduce your drag in the water and require careful use to prevent damage.

Use a lubricant such as Bodyglide on the neck, wrists and ankle to prevent chaffing and speed up the removal of the suits. Never use Vaseline or Petroleum based products as they will damage the neoprene.

Your wetsuit should feel quite tight when out of the water, if your not used to wearing one it may even feel uncomfortable, don't worry it will expand when you are in the water.

We highly recommend getting used to swimming in your wetsuit before race day, practice as much as possible and become comfortable in putting your wetsuit on and taking it off. The more you practise the less there is to worry about in a race.

Wetsuit Care

After each swim turn your wetsuit inside out and rinse in clean water.

Hang your wetsuit inside out on a large coat hanger to dry. Do not place near a direct heat source or in sunlight.

If possible store your wetsuit inside out hung on a large coat hanger or folded loosely

Never pack your wetsuit tightly folded particularly when wet. Roll or fold loosely inside out to prevent damage.
